Rylie’s. First. Birthday. Party

A little over a week ago we had the happiest of birthdays for our sweet Rylie! We spent it with family and friends who showered her with so much love! I knew I wanted to do something special for Rylie’s first birthday, and the motive behind throwing her a party was celebrate the gift that she is to us! Birthdays are a great opportunity to glorify God by honoring all that God is doing in that person’s life or will do in their life! No matter how elaborate or simple you celebrate your child’s birthday, I think it’s important to make that milestone a little extra special! I want to use all my children’s birthdays as an opportunity to affirm and encourage them with the intent of bringing God all the Glory! I had been studying up on how to make my own balloon garland and I think it turned out pretty well!

I pray you are blessed with a heart like a wildflower. Strong enough to rise again in the strength of the Lord. Even after being trampled upon, tough enough to weather the worst of the summer storms, and able to grow and flourish even in the most broken places. Happy Birth Day my sweet wildflower baby!
I was inspired by earthy and bright tones as well as the beauty of God’s creation. God is a great designer and values colors, nature, and order. My husband loves photographing the authentic beauty of God’s creation and takes beautiful pictures of wildflowers. All of this had me thinking about wildflowers and how unique they are that they flourish within their own environment no matter how rugged or put together it might be. I love the simplicity of seeing a wildflower bloom in the most peculiar places. God’s grace, nature, and Rylie’s fierce and free personality tied in so perfectly to the Wildflower Theme!

Everything came together so beautiful and simple which was what I was aiming for! We had the party at my in-laws house (because we weren’t fully moved into ours yet), and  we were so grateful that they allowed us to celebrate their Rylie (their first granddaughter) at their house! My mother and I gathered synthetic flowers and used them as decor for the entire party. She handmade Rylie’s flower crown and we arranged flowers to her highchair banner .  I chose the color card stock paper and what I wanted it say and my sister-in-law made the “Bloom Wild One” banner. A sweet friend from our church let us borrow a wooden highchair to go with the “rustic-ish” feel I was going for! My mother gifted Rylie with the teepee and added flowers to the top for decor.

Our cake baker canceled on us and we had to find someone who would make Rylie’s cake and last minute. My sweet friend Hannah created the most beautiful naked cake with lots of fruit! Just like the one I envisioned! It was  out of the goodness of her heart! ? The most perfect vanilla cake with maple butter cream frosting!

My husband and I put together a little sign-in table with Rylie’s 12 month portrait photos and pictures/certificate from her baptism when she was 4 months!

I made a scattered fruit platter with a side of granola and wildflower honey yogurt for parfaits as an appetizer and also the 1-12 month leaf garland back there! My MIL graciously made a pumpkin cake to go along with the fall season!

I purchased Rylie’s dress on Amazon and  her blush pink flats from Oldnavy! Thanks to my oh so talented friend Jennifer who hemmed Rylie’s dress!

I think my love for birthday parties came from my upbringing! My mom always celebrated us in a special way and still does! Birthday celebrations were a part of the lil traditions we had as a family growing up. Some of the best memories I’ve had with my family was celebrating birthdays. After all,  God’s gift of life is always worth the celebration! Thanks mom for instilling this in me!

                                                                       We had tacos!

I wanted to have something easy and delicious as the main course so i decided on tacos! My mom cooked all the food and it was SO GOOD people couldn’t stop munching them down! Who doesn’t LOVE tacos right?!?
My MIL also made Rylie’s smash cake ( you guys have been asking me about it) it was a banana blueberry cake made with apple sauce instead of sugar!

One thing that I distinctly remember from my childhood was always having a piñata (its the hispanic thing to do haha), but I remember everyone enjoying it! This is a fun tradition I want to carry on for my children as well!

I was so thankful for the laughter and fun that all the kids & adults seemed to be having! I also created a little corner for the kids to color and play. It turned out better than I expected!

Birthdays look different in every family, but now that I have a family of my own I want to glorify God in everything I do which includes celebrating my children in whatever “extra special” or “super simple” way I want to use my creativity. Whatever milestone my family reaches through Gods grace is an opportunity to celebrate and give God Glory for it!  Plus, I love getting people together and providing a place of laughter and joy. Celebrations are MY JAM  and I am so happy I was able to celebrate our lil wildflower for her first birthday! Thanks to my husband who took these amazing pictures Rylie now has these memories to look back on for the rest of her life!
